This form is a variant of the surname Sartori.

Origin and meaning

E. De Stefani notes that the surname derives from the Friulian term sartôr ("tailor"), a trade widely practised in the valleys of the Carnia, and that over time this professional denomination became a surname. He adds that, in some cases, Sartori may also be the Italian translation of the German surname Schneider. The surname is documented in Friuli from the beginning of the 14th century, with a presence in localities such as Udine, Cordenons and Sacile; in zones such as Pordenone, Azzano Decimo and Spilimbergo the abbreviated form Sartor prevails.

F. De Laurentiis, on the other hand, considers it a derivative of Sarti, with a predominance in northern Italy.
