Spessot has an area in the Gorizia area, in Farra d'Isonzo, Cormons, Gradisca d'Isonzo, Gorizia and Romans d'Isonzo. Spessotti, practically unique, would probably be the result of a registration error. Spessotto is typically of Veneto, of the Treviso area, in Mansuè, San Polo di Piave and Conegliano. They could derive from a nickname originating in the archaic Venetan term spessoto (hurried, agitated), perhaps a behavioural trait of the founding ancestors of the lineage. It is also possible, and perhaps more likely, that they are forms indicating provenance from a village such as Spessa di Cividale del Friuli in the Udine area or Spessa di Cologna Veneta in the Verona area.
