Sicleri

This form is a variant of the surname Siclari.

Origin and meaning

E. Rossoni notes that this surname is proper to the Reggio Calabria area, with a presence in localities such as Taurianova, Campo Calabro and Villa San Giovanni. According to Rossoni, it would derive from the trade of the tinsmith maker of buckets, from the Greek term sikla, which means "bucket."

P. Durante, on the other hand, also proposes a Greek origin, but links it to the term siklos, with the meaning of "coin."
