Marcorello
This form is a variant of the surname Marcora.
Origin and meaning
These surnames would derive, directly or through diminutive forms, from the medieval name Marcorious or Marchora, a modification of the Roman name Mercurius. This usage is documented in a deed of 1262. An alternative reading links Marcora with the Greek name Hermagoras. There also exists the place name Marcòra at Pertengo, in the Vercelli area. Marcora is a surname typical of the Milan area and of the Varese area, especially of Busto Arsizio. Marcorelli has a small area in central Italy and another in the Salento —the southernmost zone of the region of Puglia, in southern Italy. Marcorello is almost unique. Marcori is clearly Tuscan, from Santa Croce sull'Arno in the Pisa area and from Florence, Empoli and Scandicci in the Florence area. Marcorio is almost unique and likewise from the Salento.
