Gauro
This form is a variant of the surname Gauri.
Origin and meaning
The authors agree that the surname could derive from the Old High German gaahun (also written wuori in one of the variants), meaning "quick, immediate". It is an extremely rare surname, of uncertain origin.
E. Rossoni suggests a possible Austro-Hungarian origin, linking the surname to the form Gaura, from which it would derive through the term gaahun. Rossoni places this surname geographically in the Bergamo area, while the variant Gauro, almost unique, appears in the Belluno area.
For its part, the possibility is also considered that the surname is a common name of a thing, perhaps related to the Old High German wuori, "dyke, canal", from which the Italian gora derives, or that it comes from a nickname or place name of uncertain origin.
