Colaleo
This form is a variant of the surname Caruleo.
Origin and meaning
It comes from the Greek Calò Leòn, "Leo the good", according to V. Blunda. The form is a compound of the prefix kalo-, "good" or "beautiful", with the personal name Leo, and motivated the surname as a laudatory nickname applied to an ancestor. The l of the original appears in the Sicilian surname turned into r, leaving the first element less transparent.
