Surname Taverniti
Origin and meaning
E. Rossoni considers that the surname derives from demonym forms associated with localities called Taverna, in particular those located in the Cosenza area and in the Catanzaro area, which would indicate the probable geographical origin of the family's founders. Rossoni notes that the zones of greatest historical presence of the surname are located in the Reggio Calabria area, in Guardavalle within the Catanzaro area, in Crotone and in Limbadi, in the Vibo Valentia area.
P. Durante proposes, on the other hand, a Greek origin for the surname, deriving it from Taverna, although without developing the etymon in greater detail.
💡 The surname Taverniti also appears as altered form of the surname Taverna in other studies consulted in this project.
