Surname Tassinari
Origin and meaning
The authors agree that the surname has roots in northern Italy, although they differ in the approach to its origin. E. Rossoni notes that it derives from place names such as Tassinara, a locality of the municipality of San Giovanni in Persiceto in the Bologna area, and considers that its historical area of diffusion covers mainly Emilia-Romagna, with a presence in the Bologna, Ferrara, Ravenna, Forlì and Rimini areas.
F. De Laurentiis, for his part, proposes a derivation from the surname or name Tassi, without linking the origin to a specific place name. This hypothesis points to an anthroponymic rather than a geographical base, although he does not develop the chain of formation of the surname in depth.
💡 The surname Tassinari also appears as altered form of the surname Tasso; also variant of the surname Tassoni in other studies consulted in this project.
Geographic distribution: Emilia-Romagna, especially the Bologna, Ferrara, Ravenna, Forlì and Rimini areas.
