E. De Felice and E. Rossoni agree that the surname was formed from the place name Revere, in the Mantua area.

Rossoni specifies that it is extremely rare and that it could be Lombard. He documents it also in Trieste with the writer and patriot Giuseppe Revere (Trieste, 1812–1889), a collaborator of Mazzini.
