Surname Ravera
Origin and meaning
E. Rossoni differs on the origin of the surname from other authors.
Rossoni suggests that it should derive from nicknames linked to the dialect word rava ("turnip"). He adds as an alternative that, in some cases, it could also derive from the place name Villa Raverio, in the Milan area.
B. Durante proposes, on the other hand, a derivation from a place name —such as Ravera, a district or locality— or from a medieval base rav- with the meaning of "steep" or "on a slope."
💡 The surname Ravera also appears as altered form of the surname Rapa in other studies consulted in this project.
