Origin and meaning

It is a typical Lazio surname, especially in the hill towns, in Rome and in much osinone, with roots also in Le Marche. According to Emidio De Felice (Dictionary alian surnames) this surname derives from "rapa", that is: turnip, a nickname given to the head e family who "lived in places or who developed activities related to the cultivation rnips". Other linguists believe that it derives from the German name Rappo / Rappold.
