Surname Ramolivaz
Origin and meaning
E. De Felice and E. Rossoni differ on the origin of the surname, although both place it in the Val d'Aosta.
De Felice derives it as an original nickname and name from the Valdostan (la) ramoliva, which in the north-west designates —with the Piedmontese and Ligurian variants ramuliva and ramuriva— the little olive branch, or the young palm leaves plaited and blessed on Palm Sunday, and Palm Sunday itself. He notes that the name could have been given to children born on that day.
Rossoni, on the other hand, suggests that it could derive from the name of a locality of the Val d'Aosta.
