The surname Pezzatti has a multiple origin, but one clearly linked to northern Italy, especially to Alpine and pre-Alpine areas. In most cases, Pezzatti derives from the dialect term 'pez', which in the Trentino and Alpine sphere referred to the Norway spruce or abezzo (Picea excelsa). In this sense, the surname was used to identify people:
