Origin and meaning
E. De Felice and E. Rossoni agree that the surname derives from the place name Pedemonte, a small nucleus of the municipality of Serra Riccò, in the Genoa area.
E. Rossoni adds that its transformation into a surname is documented in the Alessandria area in the 14th century with the priest Michele de Pedemonte, rector of the church of Fraconalto. He also notes that at Serra Riccò it is remembered that in 1506 the peasant Agostino Pedemonte found a bronze tablet of the 2nd century BC.
