Typical of Naples and its area, of Monte di Procida, Bacoli, Procida, Pomigliano d'Arco, Pozzuoli and Castellammare di Stabia, with a probably secondary area in Rome and another very small one at Taranto. According to the scholar Guglielmo Peirce, it would derive from the medieval Italian name of Germanic origin Parascandalo. At Vico Equense there is documentation of an important notarial family with this surname from the 16th century.
