Surname Marangoni
Origin and meaning
The authors agree that this surname derives from a nickname and occupational name formed from the Venetan term marangón, with the meaning "carpenter, cabinetmaker".
E. De Felice notes that the form comes specifically from Venetian Venetan, and places its diffusion in the regions of Veneto, Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna. F. De Laurentiis agrees on that geographical distribution and specifies that the surname spread from north-eastern Italy, in the regions of Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino-Alto Adige, towards Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna.
