Surname Guzzo
Origin and meaning
V. Blunda notes that this is a Sicilian surname of dialect origin, derived from the word gùzzu, which designates a small dog, snappish and insistent in its barking. As a surname, it would have arisen from a zoomorphic nickname applied to a person of slight stature, vehement character and a tendency to react with intensity to any provocation.
💡 The surname Guzzo also appears as variants of the surnames Ghezzi and Gucci in other studies consulted in this project.
