Surname Guidetti
Origin and meaning
The authors agree that the surname derives from medieval forms of the name Guido. E. Rossoni specifies that it comes from the medieval name Guidettus, documented in a Carta investiture nomine venditionis of 18 May 1195 preserved in the archive of the church of San Giorgio in Milan, and also in Castiglione Fiorentino in a deed of surety of 1418.
Rossoni notes that the surname is typical of Emilia-Romagna and northern Tuscany, with a considerable presence also north of Milan and in the Varese area. F. De Laurentiis, for his part, indicates that the surname derives from Guidi, the patronymic form of the same base name.
💡 The surname Guidetti also appears as altered forms of the surnames Guidi and Guido in other studies consulted in this project.
