Surname Gementi
Origin and meaning
E. Rossoni considers that the etymological origin of this surname is unknown, and places it geographically in the Mantua area and in Occhiobello, in the Rovigo area.
F. De Laurentiis proposes two hypotheses about its origin. The first links it to the proper name Geminiano, which continues the late Latin personal name of Christian circles Geminus, meaning "twin". The second suggests as a base the term gemente, used as a nickname to designate one who "laments with an inarticulate, plaintive voice".
