Origin and meaning

It comes from the Greek cissaròs, "ivy", according to V. Blunda. The form designates the climbing plant of the Mediterranean botanical repertoire and motivated the surname as a microtoponym applied to the one who came from a place covered by that vegetation or as a nickname applied to an ancestor for some trait associated with the plant.
