Surname Casazza

Origin and meaning

E. Rossoni notes that the surname is very widespread in Lombardy, especially in the Bergamo, Milan, Cremona and Pavia areas, with presences also in the Alessandria, Piacenza, Genoa, Rovigo and Benevento areas. According to Rossoni, it would derive from the numerous place names called Casazza, such as that of the homonymous locality in the Bergamo area.

F. De Laurentiis proposes, for his part, that the surname is an augmentative or altered form of the term casa.

💡 The surname Casazza also appears as altered form of the surname Casa in other studies consulted in this project.
