Surname Bavado

Origin and meaning

Surname of uncertain origin. A derivation from the surname Bava has been proposed, which in the south and in Sicily should go back to the Greek Bavàs. A derivation from the noun bava ("drool") would also be possible, which entered Sicily during the Spanish domination: in both Spanish and Portuguese bava is said baba; in Spanish, babeaba. Bavado means "drooled".
