Miranda agrees on that Umbrian origin, but broadens the geographical distribution: the surname is found spread across around one hundred and twenty Italian municipalities, with predominant presence in Umbria, Sicily and Piedmont, and also in Lazio, Tuscany and the Marche, as well as other regions to a lesser extent.
