Surname Aristippo
Origin and meaning
P. Durante notes that this is a surname of Greek origin, derived from a personal name.
V. Blunda develops this etymology in greater detail: the surname comes from the Greek Aristippos, a name composed of áristos, "the best", and híppos, "horse", meaning "the best with horses". According to Blunda, the name entered Sicilian onomastics as a Greek given name that later became a surname, transmitted by Byzantine route to southern Italy.
