Surname of Greek-Byzantine origin, present in Reggio Calabria (city) and its province, in Caulonia. It derives from the Greek ἀρκουδάκι ("bear cub", a diminutive of "bear"), linked to the current Greek surname Arkudakis and to the place name Arcudaci of the Palmi area. Documented by Rohlfs, it presents sibling Sicilian forms (Arcoraci, Arcuraci, Arcolari) and belongs to the same onomastic family as Arcudi.
