Antonioni is a surname derived from the given name Antonio, of probably Etruscan origin. The diffusion of this name in Italy was driven by the cult of Saint Anthony Abbot and, later, by that of Saint Anthony of Padua, which favoured its wide presence in various regions and the formation of numerous derived surnames.
