Origin and meaning
In the absence of other solutions, one could also hypothesise that this is a case of the surname-formation of a hypocoristic by apocope derived from the register Abbondi, which in the Christian sphere continued the Late Latin name Abundius, derived with the suffix -ius from the adjective abundus, a popular variant of abundans, from the infinitive abundare.
Geographic distribution: Widely documented in the Ligurian Ponente. In the mid-15th-century Intemelio land registry, 17 Abbus property owners are listed
